About General Anesthesia
Oral surgeons are well trained in all types of anesthesia; local, nitrous oxide, IV sedation and general anesthesia. They are required to spend a minimum of 6 months doing general anesthesia in the operating room under the supervision of anesthesiologists, also they are required to do a minimum of 100 outpatient general anesthetics under direct supervision before completion of their training.
Dr. Ballenger is licensed by the State of Idaho holding a deep sedation and general anesthesia permit, the highest level of permit issued by the state. In order to keep current with this permit he is required to be certified in advanced cardiac life support, undergo regular office evaluations given by his peers and obtain continuing education specific to general anesthesia.
One should not be confused between pill sedation, IV sedation and general anesthesia because there are big differences between them and the level of training needed to perform them. In both pill sedation and IV sedation the patient will or should be awake and follow commands but may not have recall of the procedure. Taking a pill may seem like an easy way to be sedated but the results can be extremely variable and it can be very difficult to obtain the desired effect. The level of training for pill sedation is very limited and can be as little as a weekend course with very minimal patient contacts or experiences.
Dr. Ballenger has over 25 years of experience and has safely performed over 20,000 general anesthetics. As you can see Dr. Ballenger is uniquely qualified with both training and experience to perform your surgery efficiently, comfortably and safely . Call our office today at Nampa Office Phone Number 208-467-1227 to schedule the consultation appointment to discuss your anesthesia options with Dr. Ballenger.
We Offer Dental Implants
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved.
Dental implants are changing the way people live. With them, people are rediscovering the comfort and confidence to eat, speak, laugh and enjoy life.
